Patrick Houston order book, 1895-1901.

The series contains a letterpress volume of both special and general orders issued by Adjutant General Patrick Houston from 1895 to 1901. Although the handwritten orders are still legible, the typed orders in the middle of the volume have faded. This series contains lists of Florida State Troop members who were enlisted and discharged from the state militia; resignations and honorable discharges; appointments of new and replacement positions; orders of transfers; leaves of absence; and other orders. The volume contains a partial index.

The post of Adjutant General was first created by the Legislative Council of the Territory on February 1, 1832 (Ch. 695, Laws) and continued into statehood (Art. VII, Sec. 2, 1838 Constitution; Art.
